Las Casitas de Avellanas - casitas and cabinas in Avellanas Costa Rica surfing beach front private houses cabins lofts studios beds double hot water washing machine fans family jungle birds wilflife fun relaxingWe are a family-operated business in a quiet atmosphere nestled within our 2 1/2 acres. Our hard work, love, and dedication to our land shows in our tropical landscape surrounding the casitas, with many different palms and flowering plants. Take a 10 minute nature walk to the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica: Playa Avellanas.

As a family, we moved from California 5 years ago leaving behind good memories and onto a new adventure with our 4 children. Since then, all our children have mastered the beautiful language of spanish. Our oldest son Jacob is studying for an AA in Enviromental Horticulture and our second son Elliott has just left in Aug of 2006 to the Apicius Culinary institute of Florence Italy to start his schooling and plans to open his own restaurant one day. Our Daughter Madison has mastered 3 languages and is working with small children in and around our community along with doing her high school years through the internet, while our youngest daughter, Haley, is also doing her schooling on the internet and is a very good surfer like her brothers and sister.

We are very proud of what we have made here in Costa Rica as a family, and would love the opportunity share our experience with you. Avellanas offers many beauties and adventures from picturesque nature trails to some of the world's greatest surfing and deep sea fishing. Here it is possible to enjoy much of the country's diverse flora and fauna, as well as incomparable solitude and serenity.

Playa Avellanas is a wonderful ocean beach. Your vacation here can be enjoyed in many different ways, horseback riding, golfing, and sun-bathing to name a few. The beach is very famous among surfers of the world, who travel from all continents to Playa Avellanas because it offers such a variety of waves. There are lefts and rights, reef-breaks and beach-breaks, and it seems you can always find good waves at high tide or low tide. Children also enjoy the little swimming pools filled with tiny tropical fish, left by the tide among the rocks. Playa Avellanas is also 5km from Playa Negra, a wave known to be one of the best in Costa Rica! Driving 20 minutes can take you to the waves (and the night-life) of Playa Tamarindo, Playa Grande and Playa Langosto.

Directions from Liberia airport: Go west from the airport follow all signs to Hacienda Pinilla. This drive should take 1 hour. When you arrive at the entrance of Hacienda Pinilla take a left and stay on this dirt road for about 10 min. When you reach what looks like a soccer field or large grassy area continue forward for about 3 min. At this time you will see a bar with a red roof on your right go about 300 ft. and take a left. Now you are on the back road to Las Casitas de Avellanas. Go about 3 min where you'll see a large tree in the middle of the road. Go right through the double wooden gates, take your next right and go over the creek: we are the 2nd driveway on the right.
